Kuala Lumpur was a surprise. We were expecting a big city but not one that was so modern and clean. Lots of construction taking place. We took an excursion today – had an excellent guide – it was through Expedia (Malaysia Tours). We went to the Batu Caves. Ian climbed up to the top and into the caves – he said it was pouring rain inside. I stayed at the ground level – my fear of heights would not do well on the climb or coming back down. Lots of Monkeys and a tree with an incredible number of pigeons and birds in it. After the Batu caves we went to a Batik store and I got to paint for a few minutes. Beautiful works of art. Then it was off to lunch – great food and met some very nice people. We then went to the Twin Towers – the tallest twin towers in the world. The towers are occupied by the offices of Pertronas.
This is a correction from my original post – the 2nd tallest building in the world can be seen on photo 48. It is 2nd to the Burj Khalifa – it measures 2227 feet and 118 stories. It is called the Merdeka 118 (also known as KL118). We stopped at Independence Square and then back to the ship. On the ride back there was an incredible downpour – we managed to outrun it for a bit but it did follow us to the ship.
