Where in the world are we?

Just a quick update until I get caught up with all our adventures in the past few weeks. A number of things have prevented me from updating the blog. Our adventure in Bali was marvelous until the plane ride to Manila. The plane ride was ok – but they sprayed bug spray before we landed and I did not have enough warning to put on a mask. I am very sensitive to this “disinsection” policy that airlines are required to practice. Consequently, I had an adverse reaction – which I expected. I was not expecting that three days later when I went to the infirmary because I wasn’t getting any better, I would be advised that I was required to leave the ship to visit a hospital in Manila. My platelets had fallen to 54 (they should be in a range of between 140 and 440), and the ships doctors were concerned that I could start bleeding uncontrollably/internally. They were also concerned that I had contracted Dengue Fever. I was sent in an ambulance with sirens blazing – nauseating I might add, laying on a stretcher in the back of an ambulance through winding roads for 30 minutes. We spent the day at the hospital, they pumped me full of IV antibiotics, rehydrated me by IV and tested me for parasites and probably a myriad of other things, gave me a handful of new medications to take and sent me back to the ship. Luckily, we made it back with 10 minutes to departure. It has taken me a week and the threat of another hospital visit in China and I am finally on the mend. The other issue is that we are travelling through China and as a result internet is very limited. I am hoping tomorrow (a sea day) will give me the opportunity to update the blog. Today I am feeling about 95%. We had a wonderful time in Bali and I cant wait to share the photos. Stay turned
