After Brisbane we travelled to Airlie Beach. Picture perfect town. Ian’s snorkel adventure to the Great Barrier Reef was cancelled due weather. Luckily, I had arranged a fly over the GBR. I sent Ian in my place and I had a lovely leisurely stroll through Airlie Beach. Ian got to ride next to the Captain.
Last stop in Australia – Cairns. Population approximately 150,000. We had an easy day. Started with a surprise FaceTime with our family (minus Kaya – who was at home recovering from a bug – we missed you). It was lovely having a visit – thank you for the call. Took a tender to Yorkie’s Knob and visited the Yorkie’s Knob Boating Club. It’s called a boating club because they take both pleasure and commercial crafts of all sizes. They had Strongbow Apple Cider – refreshing! We enjoyed the music of a New Orlean’s Jazz Band and our drinks before heading back to the ship. Our friends flew over the GBR and took some great shots (which I have permission to post here). It was a much clearer day. We are into our third of 4 sea days and then we will be in Lombok, Indonesia. We have had a few fun evenings with friends on board – late nights and lots of dancing. When we get to Bali we have decided to leave the ship for the following four sea days – we are going to explore Bali with our friends and then fly to Manila, Phillipines to meet the ship. Stay tuned….
